Clinical safety and escalation
Althio is tuned to over-refer rather than under-refer. When a check-in shows risk, a person is involved straight away.
Tuned to over-refer
A false alarm costs a phone call. A missed signal can cost far more. Althio’s risk detection is set to raise a flag when there is doubt.
The escalation ladder
When a check-in shows risk, Althio follows the practice’s own protocol:
- Crisis resources are shown to the patient at once, including 988 and 911.
- The treating clinician or the practice’s on-call line is contacted.
- If the protocol calls for it, emergency services are involved.
- The flag, who responded and when are recorded, and the event is added to the patient’s next brief.
A person decides
Althio raises the flag and follows the protocol. A clinician, an on-call professional or emergency services decide what happens next. Althio never diagnoses or treats.
Supervision
Clinical directors see open flags and response times across the practice, and can bring the record of each response into supervision.
Consent is not a checkbox
Patients are told plainly what Althio does, what it is not, and what their clinician will see. They can change their consent at any time.
Limits
Althio is not a crisis service and does not replace emergency care. Anyone in crisis should call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
Incidents
If something goes wrong, Althio tells the practice, investigates, and records what changed as a result. Practices can report a safety concern to hello@althio.ai.
